Led by Mike Mazza's mastery across platforms like AR-15, Glock, and 1911, we provide exhaustive services including diagnostics, appraisals, Cerakote applications, and full restorations for any make or model. Based in Swedesboro, NJ, we extend our impact by teaching community firearm safety classes, promoting responsible ownership, and encouraging a culture of knowledge and respect. Mike Mazza
Owner
Mike Mazza is a gunsmith with over 15 years of experience in the firearms industry, having completed more than 50,000 repairs. As the owner of On Point Shooting LLC, located in Swedesboro, New Jersey, Mike provides practical services to firearm owners, including enthusiasts, competitive shooters, and collectors. His expertise is grounded in a solid understanding of firearms theory, including aspects like kinematics, tribology, ballistics, and mechanical principles, which allows him to work on various makes and models old or new, with reliable diagnostic methods.
Mike specializes in custom grip modifications for handguns focusing on improving ergonomics and functionality. A key service is the application of performance carbide, a coating hat adds texturing to the grip area. This treatment enhances traction in conditions like sweat or when wearing gloves, and helps reduce recoil through better service friction. Clients have noted its durability; for example, one competitive shooter commented, "The performance carbide coating improved my grip stability during rapid fire." As an illustration, consider a Glock pistol for a USPSA participant: Before modification, the standard grip led to slippage and inconsistent control. After the carbide application, it provided better feedback, aiding in faster target transitions and improved accuracy at distance.
Mike has extensive knowledge of the A.R. 15 platform, handling tasks from gas system adjustments to barrel set ups for reliability or precision. He also works on Glock pistols, addressing issues like trigger performance or slide function through component adjustments. For 1911 and 2011 models, he performs fits, engagements, and polishing for smooth operation. This platform-specific experience is linked to his theoretical background, enabling repairs across different systems. By using principles of mechanics and materials, he identifies issues in unfamiliar firearms, such as feeding problems in older rifles, without depending only on specific diagrams.
On Point Shooting LLC offers a range of services, including full restorations with disassembly, part repair or fabrication, and reassembly; milling for features like optic mounts, porting, or stippling; Cerakote coatings for protection and color options; Gun Candy for metallic finishes; gun bluing and black oxide for rust resistance and appearance; custom one-off projects; diagnostic evaluations to find and fix malfunctions; and appraisals considering market value, history, and condition. Mike uses a theory-based approach for diagnostics, focusing on root causes to avoid repeat problems.

Paul Costa
Lead Instructor
Active LEO. 19 years of experience working for a large state agency. Duties range from general road patrol, tactical patrol units, assistant range master, firearms/tactics instructor, and special operations canine handler.
Paul has been teaching firearms and tactics for over a decade and holds a myriad of Instructor certifications in CQB, firearms, combatives, small unit tactics, NVG, and SWAT operations.
Paul is currently serving on a full-time unit as a special operations canine handler. Paul is tasked with providing tactical canine support to Federal, State, County, and Local SWAT teams within the Tri-State area. Paul specializes in high-risk woodland operations / open area searches, high-risk warrant service, barricade suspects, hostage rescue, and fugitive apprehension. Paul has conducted thousands of high-risk operations stateside. Paul is also deputized as a US Marshal TFO and is assigned to them part-time to provide tactical support during fugitive operations.
Walther Arms Pro Staff Instructor. Paul is the first Walther Arms Pro Staff Instructor dedicated to providing quality training on Walther's behalf to LE Departments.
Safariland CADRE Member, which is a selected group of Instructors, specially trained for a particular purpose or profession, for a special mission on Safariland's Behalf.
Paul is currently ranked as a Master Class competitive shooter in USPSA Carry Optics Divisions. Paul's teaching methodology is principle-based and rooted in the fundamentals. He combines his professional background and passion for the shooting sports to produce effective, efficient, accountable, and tactical shooters.
Paul travels around the country as an Instructor for Broken Arrow Defense LLC, and also serves as a guest instructor and collaborates with other industry partners. His passion for training only grows as he continues to remain a student of his craft. Paul takes training passionately and devotes himself to preparing good Americans and Law Enforcement officers to be better prepared in defense of themselves and others.
